To withstand humidity, dust and other harsh conditions, Chambrelan telescopic slides are treated against corrosion during manufacture. The choice of treatment depends on the material, but also on the environment in which they are used.
Standard treatment depending on the type of telescopic slide:
- Steel: white zinc, resistant to 400 hours of salt spray.
- Aluminium: colourless anodising, protection for up to 250 hours.
- Stainless steel: pickling and passivation for a clean, protected surface.
Good to know:
Durability tests are carried out under extreme conditions (salt spray at 35°C with 5% salt) to guarantee longevity.
The aim: to prevent rust even if the telescopic slides remain closed for long periods or are poorly maintained.
What if conditions are truly extreme?
In more demanding environments, you can opt for enhanced treatments:
For steel telescopic slides:
- Black zinc: 200 hours of salt spray resistance
- High-performance zinc: up to 600 hours.
- Zinc-nickel: 1,000 hours of resistance, ideal for corrosive environments.
- Carbonitriding: makes the telescopic slides harder (up to 35 HRC) and more resistant to vibrations and intensive cycles.
Tip: carbonitriding can be combined with an anti-corrosion treatment such as zinc-nickel for maximum protection.
For aluminium telescopic slides:
- Black anodising for an aesthetic finish,
- Hard anodising (48 HRC) for greater robustness.
For stainless steel telescopic slides:
- Electrolytic polishing: improves the appearance and protection of surfaces.
Pro tip:
If you’re looking for a good balance between performance and budget, consider combining a reinforced treatment with stainless steel balls. This is a more economical solution than an all-stainless steel telescopic slide, whilst offering excellent corrosion resistance.
